The Wishing Tree tradition is one of the most well-preserved traditions for Hong Kongers to pray for good luck, health, and prosperity in the year to come.
Just before and during the Lunar New Year, locals and tourists gather around the tree to write down their wishes attached to an orange before throwing it high up onto the branches of the tree.
An intriguing legend has it that if the orange successfully stays in the tree without falling off, it implies the wish has been received and will come true in the year to come.
